Helping Others with Holistic Health

May 18th, 2011

I've yet to meet someone who has an interest in training in a holistic therapy who hasn't a passion for helping others.  That's the real motivation factor for most in the holistic health field.  So how can you help more people? How can you help more people book an appointment with you? Because you know your therapy can help them.  Well first of all it's necessary to help them come to a decision.  Prospective clients are looking at your brochure, website or business card for specific information. They have a problem they are seeking help, and it's that problem that's top of mind.  Does your brochure, website or business card "speak to them"? Does it connect with what they want, does it position you as the expert and help them feel understood?

When a client feels understood, it can be a huge relief to them.  That you are the answer to their prayers.  Think about how you can help your clients even BEFORE they become clients.  You see if they don't connect with you, it doesn't matter how pretty your logo is, or how professional your website looks, if they don't undrstand what you offer, if it's difficult to find your contact details, they'll probably not pick up the phone.  It's scary for clients to pick up the phone, to trust another person and go the holistic route.  I think sometimes we underestimate how difficult that can be for others.

So to summarise:

1. Make your message clear

2. Ensure your message is relevant to your target market

3. Each page should have one clear objective – what do you want each page to DO.

4. Remember, your client is looking for a solution – they actually don't really care what therapy it is, only that it'll help.

5. Trust is a big issue for new clients, so demonstrate your expertise, share testimonials, and have a keep in touch system so they can get to know you over time.

If you want to help more people, get clear on who you can help.

What is google saying about you?

November 17th, 2010

If someone wanted to learn more about your clinic where would they look? If the computer is on, my guess would be they’d search online.  So how would they search for you?

It is well worth “google-ing” your name or your business name, to see where you turn up, and if your website is being found.  Are you on the first page of Google, or at least on the second? I don’t know about you, but I rarely look beyond those.

If your site has been up for years and you've never updated it, remember that google likes fresh content – so adding an article or 2 everyone so often, won't do your ranking much harm!!

Google also loves Video, so putting a video on YouTube and your website, can also improve you being found!

Now, also think, if someone couldn’t remember your name, what words would they put into the search bar to describe what you do?  They might search for “massage therapist in x town”.  Or maybe they might try to find a solution for their health problem.  So spend some time this week searching for yourself on Google (and Yahoo, and Bing), and see what presence you have online.

If you don’t have a website, it is still possible to have a presence online.  Free blogs can be set up to look like a mini website, on facebook you can create a business page, and there are plenty of other website listings where you can create a professional profile that tells searchers what you do.  Google will find these too.

There are benefits to using these free services, such as they are free. However, the drawback is that if a company withdraws its service your content goes with it.  By having your own website, hosted on its own servers, then no one can suddenly disappear.

We host our websites on hostgator and works out very reasonable by buying a year or 2 in advance – works out at just $5.95 a month.  If you are interested in moving your webdomain, let me know as I have a discount coupon available. Email me at info (at) clientattractingsecrets.com

Would a Volcano Affect Your Business?

April 26th, 2010

Let me ask you, what if you were thousands of miles away from home – UNPLANNED

  • Would that affect your holistic business?
  • Would you have to cancel the very appointments that were generating your sole income?
  • Could you afford the extra hotel nights?
  • Could you afford extra help for your kids at home or do you have a support system in place for that?
  • Would you have a way to communicate with your clients and associates?
  • Could you generate income or would your business/life come to a stand still?

Last weekend I was in Dublin with a business group of Americans we’d invited over. And while Kieran and I were able to come home on Sunday, our friends could not!  Due to there being no flights throughout Europe for 6 days.

What would you do if you’d been stranded in a foreign country? Would you be able to afford it, and still be making money in your business?

Our friends were inconvenienced, and of course they missed their kids, pets, family etc, but their business didn’t suffer, and they weren’t in ‘freak out’ mode.  They all have a mobile business, that is not hours for dollars/euros/pounds.

So now you might be saying, “well that’s all very well for them, but I work one to one with clients. I couldn’t be mobile”.  But maybe you could have an element to your business that didn’t rely on you seeing clients on a one to one basis. Let me explain.

Do you have a website?

If not, then you should do.  And if you do, it is more than likely in the old style – informational, brochure style – more of a passive “if they’re interested they’ll call me” style than a pro-active “I’ll ask the visitor to take some sort of action or interaction” style which will actually get you clients.

Let’s put this another way

Let’s say you hired a receptionist, to take your calls all day.  And at the end of the day, all she had done was given out information but taken no one’s name, address, telephone number, email address or and taken no appointments. The result being you couldn’t send out your brochure, you couldn’t put them on your newsletter list, you had no way of returning their calls.

And this is the trap that most websites fall into.  Giving out lots of information but asking for nothing in return.  By simply asking for visitors to your website to sign up for your newsletter, or offer them something in exchange for their details, you can at least have the minimum of details enabling you to follow up with them.  This is the very start to a business model that can help you create a 2nd income stream.

In my next Healthy Business Club LIVE call I will be sharing this business model and how it applies for holistic practitioners.  And help you make a few tweaks to your marketing to create an extra income stream, so that should you find yourself on an unplanned break, you won’t be in freak out mode!

Don’t miss this call!
